Brooks Willison hit a great freekick 47 minutes into the match.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Mauro Boselli was the one to do the kick off. In the 51st minute of the game Primitivo Andino made a throw-in which Felix Montes played forward. Mauro Boselli's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Julio Vera read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 52nd minute of play. Julio Vera took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Mauro Boselli, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 71st minute Mauro Boselli shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 82nd minute Agustín Saelices suffered a thigh injury and had to be helped off the field. 82 minutes into the game, Venancio Kepa was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Shuspendemo's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Ecuador the free kick. Ecuador made a substitution. Diego Mancebo replaced Agustín Saelices. After 85 played minutes, Shuspendemo's Enrique Silban shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Julio Vera came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Shuspendemo reached it. Primitivo Andino kicked well hit freekick during the 86th minute of the match. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Mauro Boselli in the 87th minute of play. Ismael Vellito made an important save on a dangerous shot by Daniel Zorita in the 90th minute. Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Mauro Boselli, who was totally free with the ball in the 92nd minute. When the referee blew the final whistle, you could see the dissatisfaction in the Ecuador players' eyes. They were disappointed they hadn't taken more from the game.
