Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Patricio Sengrat in the 36th minute of play. Ziemowit Harasimowicz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Daniel Zorita, who was totally free with the ball in the 37th minute. Patricio Sengrat scored 1-2 in the 41st match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Julio Vera, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Patricio Sengrat couldn't finish the play. When the match was over Ecuador could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than No vino el 5 throughout the match.
