Franco Armani made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cristian Sancho in the 22nd minute of play. After 24 minutes Adrogue FC's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Daniel Zorita who took care of the corner kick. The supporters of Adrogue FC booed when Ecuador was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 25 match minutes in a wonderful position. Agustín Saelices didn't get a good kick on the ball. The crowd rose to their feet as Laureano Vergaray kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Julio Vera. That made the score 1-1 in the 26 minute of play. Cristian Sancho sent away a hard shot on goal in the 30th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. In the 32nd minute Cristian Sancho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Franco Armani saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 34 minutes had been played when some careless play by Adrogue FC's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Daniel Zorita was slow to take the kick. During this time Ecuador's players had a chance to rest. Franco Armani showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cristian Sancho, who was totally free with the ball in the 39th minute. The corner ended in Ismael Abalos almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Ecuador's Julio Vera did a great save. Daniel Zorita could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 94th minute of the match, but Franco Armani made a huge save.
