Spectators: 40 (Terracing: 31, Seating: 9, VIP seats: 0) 3 minutes into the match, El Salvador's Moises Fernandino sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Florin Dorlea narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Mattias Kilman kicked well hit freekick during the 4th minute of the match. Florin Dorlea made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Abram Luque in the 11th minute of play. Moises Fernandino received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 15th minute. Florin Dorlea tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Ricardo Zorita made a fantastic save in the 16th minute, when Vitaliy Krylatov sent off a good shot on target. After 17 played minutes El Salvador got a freekick which was hit by Luis Rubio. Torsten Peterssons short, quick shot in the 19thth minute got Ricardo Zorita to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. When Marco Tamayo fell near the penalty area in the 21st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored El Salvador's protests and gave Marco Tamayo a yellow card for diving instead. 24 minutes into the game, Moises Fernandino cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Florin Dorlea was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. An unexpectedly hard shot by Moises Fernandino in the 27th minute of play forced IFK Göteborg's goalkeeper Florin Dorlea to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Ricardo Zorita came out of the goal in the 30th minute to try and stop a shot by IFK Göteborg's Vitaliy Krylatov. But to his dismay, Vitaliy Krylatov quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. IFK Göteborg's Florin Dorlea played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Moises Fernandino in the 37th minute of play. Ricardo Zorita took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Joachim Hägg, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Joachim Hägg stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. If Abram Luque had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 51st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 53 minutes into the match, El Salvador's goal looked a bit too open when Vitaliy Krylatov came free, but Ricardo Zorita reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Kent Löfkvist kicked well hit freekick during the 57th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Joachim Hägg in the 60th minute of play forced El Salvador's goalkeeper Ricardo Zorita to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Kent Löfkvist was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 67 minutes had been played. A collision led to IFK Göteborg getting a freekick after 68 minutes play. Kent Löfkvist hit a great ball. Joachim Hägg sent away a hard shot on goal in the 71st minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Moises Fernandino fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 74th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Florin Dorlea having to interfere. 77 minutes into the match, IFK Göteborg's goal looked a bit too open when Moises Fernandino came free, but Florin Dorlea reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. El Salvador's Abram Luque got a good chance for a goal in the 80th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. A collision led to El Salvador getting a freekick after 85 minutes play. Valentino Ferrant hit a great ball. In the 86th minute, Joachim Hägg got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. El Salvador's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
