When Julian Murillo came up free with the goalie in the 15th minute, the Peru fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Julian Murillo couldn't finish the play. Gísli Langnickel blasted a shot towards the goal in the 19th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Rolando Noboa having to make a save. Rolando Noboa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gísli Langnickel, who was totally free with the ball in the 19th minute. In the 23rd minute Julian Murillo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Emory Øien saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gísli Langnickel in the 24th minute of play forced Peru's goalkeeper Rolando Noboa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Julian Murillo in the 26th minute of play forced Aversa's goalkeeper Emory Øien to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 30 minutes into the game, Julian Murillo cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-1. Emory Øien was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 34th minute, Gísli Langnickel got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Peru's Eliseo Mina quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Kauã Paes, made in the 36th minute of the game. 37 minutes in the game Emmanuel Reyes did a throw-in, and the ball was quickly in game thanks to Luz Tejedor. When Julian Murillo came up free with the goalie in the 39th minute, the Peru fans jumped to their feet. Eliseo Mina received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 41st minute. Emory Øien tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Emory Øien took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Julian Murillo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 44 minutes into the match, Aversa's goal looked a bit too open when Julian Murillo came free, but Emory Øien reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Joaquin Prats hit a great freekick 45 minutes into the match.

The wind increased when Gísli Langnickel made the kick off in the second half. After having played for 51 minutes, Julian Murillo managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Peru's supporters crossed their fingers, but Julian Murillo was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The throw-in from Kauã Paes in the 59th minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by Peru's Eliseo Mina. After a defensive mix-up in Aversa's zone, Julian Murillo stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Emory Øien came out of the goal and Julian Murillo tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Rolando Noboa showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gísli Langnickel in the 64th minute of the match. When Kauã Paes fell near the penalty area in the 65th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Aversa's protests and gave Kauã Paes a yellow card for diving instead. After 65 played minutes Aversa got a freekick which was hit by Kauã Paes. 66 minutes into the match, Peru's Julian Murillo sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Emory Øien narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Emory Øien made an important save on a dangerous shot by Julian Murillo in the 68th minute. In the 68th match minute, Aversa was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Flavio Di Giulio to maneuver through the defense. Aversa made a substitution. Ferdinando Cesarini replaced Aang Pitono. Aversa made a substitution. Eerik Eha replaced Flavio Di Giulio. 72 minutes had been played when some careless play by Aversa's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Luz Tejedor was slow to take the kick. During this time Peru's players had a chance to rest. Peru's Eliseo Mina managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Kauã Paes in the 82 minute of the game. Rafael Gallo could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 85th minute of the match, but Emory Øien made a huge save. Emory Øien made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Rafael Gallo in the 87th minute of play. In the 90th match minute, Peru was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Anthony Alvarado to maneuver through the defense. Peru's attentive Eliseo Mina managed to snatch the ball when Kauã Paes made a throw-in in the 91st minute of the game. After 96 minutes of play, Peru's Rafael Gallo made it 1-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Emory Øien was left in no man's land by his defense there! The Peru players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
