Jonathan Ferrant took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Artemio Formerio, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Patricio Costa might have been able to make a better finish in the 23rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Harun Uluer. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Patricio Costa ran back to his position shaking his head. Harun Uluer stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Tomas Illescas's shot from short distance in the 26th minute. In the 31st minute, Justino Locaio made a precise shot to the right of Jonathan Ferrant. Venezuela's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-1. After some careless play in the Venezuela defense, Justino Locaio kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Jonathan Ferrant. The Venezuela fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Jonathan Ferrant should have stopped the shot. In the 37th match minute, Santos Lugares FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Omar Berasko to maneuver through the defense.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Justino Locaio stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Justino Locaio came free with the goalkeeper in the 52nd minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Jonathan Ferrant could save by the left post. In the 57th minute Patricio Costa shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Harun Uluer saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Venezuela's zone, Justino Locaio stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jonathan Ferrant came out of the goal and Justino Locaio tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Saturnino Lluc made in the 62nd minute of the game a sloppy throw-in which Artemio Formerio however managed to control. In the 67th match minute, Venezuela was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Tomas Illescas to maneuver through the defense. In the 70th minute of the match Venezuela got a corner. Santos Lugares FC's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Tomas Illescas ran over to the corner to take the kick. Tomas Illescas hit a great freekick 71 minutes into the match. Justino Locaio's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Jonathan Ferrant read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 73rd minute of play. Harun Uluer made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tomas Illescas in the 75th minute of play. If Salvador Gisbert had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 80th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 81 minutes into the game, Jose Correa was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Venezuela's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Santos Lugares FC the free kick. After a rather tough play, Venezuela's Jose Correa got a free kick in the 81st minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Tomas Illescas in the 84th minute of play forced Santos Lugares FC's goalkeeper Harun Uluer to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Justino Locaio blasted a shot towards the goal in the 85th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Jonathan Ferrant having to make a save. If Patricio Costa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 86th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Jose Correa was shown his second yellow card after 95 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. After a rather tough play, Venezuela's Jose Correa got a free kick in the 96th minute. Santos Lugares FC's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
