Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Van Schouten received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Julio Vera came out and tried to block the shot, but Van Schouten slotted it home off the left post making it 1-1 in the 23rd minute. Sonny Wallin's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Julio Vera read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 89th minute of play. In the 95th minute, Håkan Petersson left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Säfvahöjden fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-4. When the match was over Ecuador could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Säfvahöjden throughout the match.
