After some careless play in the El Salvador defense, Javier Milei kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Ricardo Zorita. The El Salvador fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Ricardo Zorita should have stopped the shot. After a rather tough play, El Salvador's Luis Rubio got a free kick in the 37th minute. Benjamin Grabiel's late challenge caught a El Salvador's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-2 lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Moises Fernandino stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. With his leg Ricardo Zorita managed to avoid a goal in the 65thth minute, when ✴ ᑭᕮᒪᑌᑕᕼᕮ ✴'s Kaká Tua fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. 73 minutes into the match, ✴ ᑭᕮᒪᑌᑕᕼᕮ ✴'s goal looked a bit too open when Moises Fernandino came free, but Aurelio Nafarroa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.
