In the 3rd match minute, Ecuador was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Cristian Sancho to maneuver through the defense. 6 minutes into the game, Daniel Zorita cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Erik Vale was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 11thth minute of the game Daniel Zorita who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Panionios MK's Erik Vale was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Erik Vale stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Daniel Zorita's shot from short distance in the 11th minute. 14 minutes into the match, Panionios MK's Themos Leontiadis sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Julio Vera narrowly saved just below the crossbar. If Themos Leontiadis had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 17th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Daniel Zorita struck a weak shot in the 18th minute. Erik Vale didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ecuador. Erik Vale showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Luis Andino, who was totally free with the ball in the 20th minute. Ecuador were awarded a corner in the 21th minute after Panionios MK's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Daniel Zorita took the corner. After taking down the ball on Ecuador's corner Daniel Zorita fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Erik Vale quite easily take care of the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Themos Leontiadis in the 23rd minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Panionios MK's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Argyris Ksagorarakis in the 24th minute. A nice corner shot did that Argyris Ksagorarakis got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Julio Vera quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Daniel Zorita received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 30th minute. Erik Vale tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After some fancy dribbling in the 33rd minute, Daniel Zorita managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ecuador's supporters rose to their feet, but Daniel Zorita was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Erik Vale breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. When Ecuador's Daniel Zorita in the 35th minute got a chance for a shot 35th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Panionios MK's goalie prevented a goal. Erik Vale showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Felix Montenegro, who was totally free with the ball in the 39th minute. 47 minutes into the match, Panionios MK's Argyris Ksagorarakis broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. The Panionios MK players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Ecuador were winning 0-1.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Daniel Zorita was the one to do the kick off. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Themos Leontiadis in the 54th minute of play. Panionios MK's Erik Vale proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 56th minute of the match, managed to save Panionios MK from getting a goal against them. In the 61st minute, Allan Corrigan hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Themos Leontiadis in the 69th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Julio Vera saved Ecuador from getting behind. The supporters of Panionios MK booed when Ecuador was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 70 match minutes in a wonderful position. Luis Andino didn't get a good kick on the ball. Julio Vera showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Allan Corrigan in the 74th minute of the match. The supporters of Ecuador booed when Panionios MK was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 75 match minutes in a wonderful position. Fanis Salepis didn't get a good kick on the ball. Panionios MK's Themos Leontiadis suffered a concussion after 78 minutes and had to leave the field. When Antonio Arias fell near the penalty area in the 78th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Ecuador's protests and gave Antonio Arias a yellow card for diving instead. Panionios MK's Zisis Chronidis was substituted for Themos Leontiadis. Antonio Arias hit a great freekick 80 minutes into the match. 81 minutes into the match, Panionios MK's Argyris Ksagorarakis sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Julio Vera narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After 85 minutes of play, Panionios MK's Allan Corrigan made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Julio Vera was left in no man's land by his defense there! Zisis Chronidis's late challenge caught a Ecuador's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Zisis Chronidis helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Panionios MK getting a freekick after 90 minutes play. Zisis Chronidis hit a great ball. After a rather tough play, Panionios MK's Zisis Chronidis got a free kick in the 92nd minute.
