After the first half Peru were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

In the 84th minute Albin Apelquist shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rolando Noboa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 86th minute, Exequiel Zeballos made a precise shot to the right of Rolando Noboa. Peru's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-2. Peru's Eliseo Alcocer was substituted for Moises Gayoso. Peru made a substitution. Antonio Tenorio replaced Luz Tejedor. Peru's Rafael Gallo was substituted for Julian Murillo. The Manchester United F.C. fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Peru were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
