Ecuador were awarded a corner in the 10th minute after HURACAN's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Daniel Zorita took the corner. Sebastian Nafarroa thought of kicking away a contribution in front of goal but messed it up so badly that the ball went to the right of an astonished Segundo Katia, a very annoying self made goal in the 11th minute which led to 0-1. Felix Montenegro fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 13th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Segundo Katia having to interfere. If Ubaldo Guzman had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 16th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The supporters of Ecuador booed when HURACAN was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 17 match minutes in a wonderful position. Sebastian Nafarroa didn't get a good kick on the ball. Segundo Katia took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Daniel Zorita, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Julio Vera showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ubaldo Guzman in the 24th minute of the match. 29 minutes into the game, Daniel Zorita cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-2. Segundo Katia was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Segundo Katia made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Daniel Zorita in the 35th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Daniel Zorita in the 37th minute of play forced HURACAN's goalkeeper Segundo Katia to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 39 minutes had been played when some careless play by HURACAN's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Daniel Zorita was slow to take the kick. During this time Ecuador's players had a chance to rest. The corner ended in Daniel Zorita almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but HURACAN's Segundo Katia did a great save. HURACAN's Segundo Katia played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Daniel Zorita in the 40th minute of play. After 40 minutes of play, Ecuador's Daniel Zorita made it 0-3 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Segundo Katia was left in no man's land by his defense there! After a rather tough play, Ecuador's Agustín Saelices got a free kick in the 46th minute. Disappointed in the 0-3 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

52 minutes into the match, Ecuador's Felix Montenegro sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Segundo Katia narrowly saved just below the crossbar. When Felix Posam came up free with the goalie in the 54th minute, the HURACAN fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Felix Posam couldn't finish the play. 58 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Ulryk Bejgier came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. HURACAN's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Felix Posam in the 59th minute. HURACAN's Felix Posam was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Julio Vera in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Segundo Katia made an important save on a dangerous shot by Daniel Zorita in the 62nd minute. Ecuador's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Daniel Zorita in the 65th minute. With a little luck, HURACAN's Segundo Katia got control of the ball when Daniel Zorita tried to sneak it across the goal line. Ecuador's Daniel Zorita got a good chance for a goal in the 87th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. When Daniel Zorita came up free with the goalie in the 88th minute, the Ecuador fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Daniel Zorita couldn't finish the play. Daniel Zorita received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 92nd minute. Segundo Katia tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Cristian Sancho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 94th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
