The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. The supporters of SOUTH THUNDER booed when Ecuador was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 3 match minutes in a wonderful position. Camilo Gisbert didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Daniel Zorita came up free with the goalie in the 9th minute, the Ecuador fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Daniel Zorita couldn't finish the play. Felix Montes hit a great freekick 10 minutes into the match. In the 13th minute, Augusto Procopio hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 18 minutes had been played when some careless play by Ecuador's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Jeronimo Errapel was slow to take the kick. During this time SOUTH THUNDER's players had a chance to rest. The corner ended in Jeronimo Errapel almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Ecuador's Julio Vera did a great save. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Bonifacio Arias in the 19th minute of play. Conrado Emesto charged in rather forcefully in the 21st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Conrado Emesto the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. If Felix Montenegro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 25th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 27 minutes into the game, Jeronimo Errapel cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Julio Vera was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. With a little luck, SOUTH THUNDER's Sebastian Xabier got control of the ball when Daniel Zorita tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 31st minute of the match Ecuador got a corner. SOUTH THUNDER's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Daniel Zorita ran over to the corner to take the kick. After taking down the ball on Ecuador's corner Daniel Zorita fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Sebastian Xabier quite easily take care of the ball. Sebastian Xabier was out of position in the 33 minute of play, and Daniel Zorita capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Daniel Zorita really showed his touch with that goal: 1-1. The audience thought a goal was coming when Daniel Zorita got free with Sebastian Xabier in the 36th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. With a little luck, SOUTH THUNDER's Sebastian Xabier got control of the ball when Cristian Sancho tried to sneak it across the goal line. Camilo Gisbert's late challenge caught a SOUTH THUNDER's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Camilo Gisbert helped the player get up and apologised. In the 42nd match minute, Ecuador was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Camilo Gisbert to maneuver through the defense. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jeronimo Errapel in the 43rd minute of play. In the 46th minute of the match, Daniel Zorita got a very nice opportunity to score, but Sebastian Xabier was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. In the 66th minute, Daniel Zorita got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 68 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Bonifacio Arias came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. SOUTH THUNDER's Jeronimo Errapel was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Julio Vera in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. After 78 played minutes SOUTH THUNDER got a freekick which was hit by Jeronimo Errapel. SOUTH THUNDER's Sebastian Xabier played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Felix Montenegro in the 81st minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in SOUTH THUNDER's zone, Daniel Zorita stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Sebastian Xabier came out of the goal and Daniel Zorita tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 88th minute, Daniel Zorita managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ecuador's supporters rose to their feet, but Daniel Zorita was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Sebastian Xabier breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Julio Vera made an important save on a dangerous shot by Jeronimo Errapel in the 90th minute. Jeronimo Errapel's late challenge caught a Ecuador's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Jeronimo Errapel helped the player get up and apologised. In the 92nd minute, Jeronimo Errapel hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. A collision led to SOUTH THUNDER getting a freekick after 95 minutes play. Urbano Quintyn hit a great ball. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Ecuador had played much better football throughout.
