The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. If Lanny Gilmore had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 21st minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Through an outstanding action, after 21 minutes, Ricardo Zorita successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Ricardo Zorita made an important save on a dangerous shot by Tyron Velasquez in the 22nd minute. Mike Richardson did some fancy footwork in front of goal and succeeded to deceive the defenders so he could slam the ball in 1-0 to the left of a surprised Ricardo Zorita 26 minutes into the match. Santos FC's attentive Tyron Velasquez managed to snatch the ball when Jorge Magrina made a throw-in in the 30th minute of the game. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Lanny Gilmore in the 30th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Ricardo Zorita saved El Salvador from getting behind. After a rather tough play, El Salvador's Jorge Magrina got a free kick in the 33rd minute. Ricardo Zorita came out and tried to block the shot, but Tyron Velasquez slotted it home off the left post making it 2-0 in the 41st minute. After some careless play in the El Salvador defense, Lanny Gilmore kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Ricardo Zorita. The El Salvador fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Ricardo Zorita should have stopped the shot.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Moises Fernandino was the one to do the kick off. After a defensive mix-up in El Salvador's zone, Tyron Velasquez stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ricardo Zorita came out of the goal and Tyron Velasquez tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Ricardo Zorita showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Tyron Velasquez in the 53rd minute of the match. Ricardo Zorita came out of the goal in the 66th minute to try and stop a shot by Santos FC's Lanny Gilmore. But to his dismay, Lanny Gilmore quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 6-0. In the 69th minute, Tyron Velasquez made a precise shot to the right of Ricardo Zorita. El Salvador's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 7-0. In the 72nd minute, Tyron Velasquez left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Santos FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 8-0. El Salvador's attentive Luis Rubio managed to snatch the ball when Dominic Albright made a throw-in in the 75th minute of the game. After some careless play in the El Salvador defense, Lanny Gilmore kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Ricardo Zorita. The El Salvador fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Ricardo Zorita should have stopped the shot. Lanny Gilmore blasted a shot towards the goal in the 79th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Ricardo Zorita having to make a save. El Salvador's Ricardo Zorita played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Lanny Gilmore in the 79th minute of play. Santos FC's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Warren Ruiz in the 89th minute. The corner led Santos FC's Warren Ruiz to fire away a dangerous shot which Ricardo Zorita despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. The Santos FC fans' excitement grew in the 92nd match minute when Santos FC's Lanny Gilmore looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 11-0 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. After 96 minutes of play, Santos FC's Lanny Gilmore made it 12-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Ricardo Zorita was left in no man's land by his defense there! There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Santos FC fully deserved thier win.
