Manole Tăcutu started the match with the kick off. Sabin Cândroveanu's late challenge caught a Costa Rica's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Sabin Cândroveanu helped the player get up and apologised. After 4 played minutes -BZF- Valea Buzăului got a freekick which was hit by Sabin Cândroveanu. An unexpectedly hard shot by Axel Tasis in the 12th minute of play forced -BZF- Valea Buzăului's goalkeeper Ana Ţugui to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Sabin Cândroveanu lost his temper 13 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. In the 14th minute, Sabin Cândroveanu hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Lautaro Puig sent away a hard shot on goal in the 15th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. -BZF- Valea Buzăului's Paul Baran quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Efrain Moruga, made in the 17th minute of the game. 19 minutes into the game, Abel Carballo threw the ball into play from the sideline. -BZF- Valea Buzăului's Claudiu Bădulescu quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. Ana Ţugui was out of position in the 22 minute of play, and Eliseo Noboa capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. In the 44th match minute, Costa Rica was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Eliseo Noboa to maneuver through the defense. 46 minutes into the match, Costa Rica's Lautaro Puig sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Ana Ţugui narrowly saved just below the crossbar. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

The wind increased when Axel Tasis made the kick off in the second half. The throw-in from Efrain Moruga in the 58th minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by -BZF- Valea Buzăului's Claudiu Bădulescu. Emilian Ţurlău received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 60th minute. Benito Sanz tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. -BZF- Valea Buzăului's Manole Tăcutu managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Hugo Ferrant in the 63 minute of the game. In the 69th minute Axel Tasis shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ana Ţugui saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ana Ţugui showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Lautaro Puig, who was totally free with the ball in the 70th minute. Claudiu Bădulescu kicked well hit freekick during the 72nd minute of the match. When Axel Tasis came up free with the goalie in the 72nd minute, the Costa Rica fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Axel Tasis couldn't finish the play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Axel Tasis in the 75th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Ana Ţugui prevented the ball from getting in the gole. -BZF- Valea Buzăului's Paul Baran quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Efrain Moruga, made in the 80th minute of the game. -BZF- Valea Buzăului's Claudiu Bădulescu quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Abel Carballo, made in the 86th minute of the game. 87 minutes into the match, Costa Rica's goalkeeper Benito Sanz had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Gelu Jumancă. After 89 minutes of play, Costa Rica's Axel Tasis made it 2-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Ana Ţugui was left in no man's land by his defense there! The Costa Rica support was delighted with a win in a match that could easily have ended differently.
