When Kryspin Oryniak fell near the penalty area in the 39th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Mario gool's protests and gave Kryspin Oryniak a yellow card for diving instead. After some fancy dribbling in the 40th minute, Luis Andino managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ecuador's supporters rose to their feet, but Luis Andino was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Leon Mosiniak breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Primitivo Andino hit a great freekick 45 minutes into the match. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The audience was convinced that Kryspin Oryniak's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Julio Vera was relentless in the 68th minute of the game. Mario gool made a substitution. Edgar Jumancă replaced Franciszek Wykowski. In the 70th minute Mario gool were awarded a corner. Hugo Larsson went to the cornerflag to take it. The corner led Mario gool's Hugo Larsson to fire away a dangerous shot which Julio Vera despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. When Daniel Zorita came up free with the goalie in the 75th minute, the Ecuador fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Daniel Zorita couldn't finish the play. Mario gool's Ulryk Biraga was substituted for Mykyta Yaremenko. Hugo Larsson got his second yellow card in the match during the 78th minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. In the 79th minute, Hugo Larsson hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The audience thought a goal was coming when Luis Andino got free with Leon Mosiniak in the 80th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Ulryk Biraga sent away a hard shot on goal in the 82nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 84 minutes into the match, Ecuador's Daniel Zorita sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Leon Mosiniak narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Kryspin Oryniak blasted a shot towards the goal in the 86th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Julio Vera having to make a save.
