Eliseo Mina's late challenge caught a Hertha 1969's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Eliseo Mina helped the player get up and apologised. 18 minutes into the match, Peru's goal looked a bit too open when Gigel Elenescu came free, but Rolando Noboa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Milagros Fraga's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Rune Jarstein read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 26th minute of play. A collision led to Hertha 1969 getting a freekick after 31 minutes play. Zé Paulo da Silva hit a great ball. Hertha 1969's manager breathed a sigh of relief on the sidelines as his team had managed to escape an almost certain goal. Rune Jarstein didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Luz Tejedor went, in the 41st minute, to the upper right corner, 0-2 was the resulting score. Rune Jarstein showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Julian Murillo, who was totally free with the ball in the 44th minute. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-2.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Julian Murillo stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Julian Murillo's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Rune Jarstein read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 51st minute of play. After a rather tough play, Hertha 1969's Ziemowit Tscherner got a free kick in the 64th minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Wilhelm Nienhaus in the 66th managed to get into a good position. In the 77thth minute of the game Julian Murillo who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Hertha 1969's Rune Jarstein was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 78th of the match, Julian Murillo tried to place the ball in the upper right corner, but Rune Jarstein got in the way and made a wonderful save. Rolando Noboa took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Stefan Mayer, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.
