The audience was convinced that Güntekin Şanlı's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Benito Sanz was relentless in the 4th minute of the game. In the 16th minute, Fryderyk Gamza hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 18 minutes into the match, The Fighting Mongooses FC's goalkeeper Leszek Matuch had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Aaron Alcocer. Velislav Lyutov struck a weak shot in the 28th minute. Benito Sanz didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for The Fighting Mongooses FC. After some careless play in the Costa Rica defense, Tolek Jaworski kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Benito Sanz. The Costa Rica fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Benito Sanz should have stopped the shot. Benito Sanz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Adam Kanczuszewski in the 33rd minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Güntekin Şanlı in the 41st minute of play forced Costa Rica's goalkeeper Benito Sanz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Axel Tasis stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. A hard shot 59 in the game by Adam Kanczuszewski from a close distance when the talented Benito Sanz managed to make a qualified save. Costa Rica's players were relieved. When Eliseo Noboa fell near the penalty area in the 64th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Costa Rica's protests and gave Eliseo Noboa a yellow card for diving instead. Eliseo Noboa hit a great freekick 64 minutes into the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Güntekin Şanlı in the 67th minute of play forced Costa Rica's goalkeeper Benito Sanz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Güntekin Şanlı scored 0-3 in the 67th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Benito Sanz, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. But to his dismay, Velislav Lyutov quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-4. Costa Rica's defense didn't have a chance, in the 75th minute, when Güntekin Şanlı scored to the left of an out of position Benito Sanz, making the score, 0-5. The goalkeeper, Benito Sanz, was totally fooled by The Fighting Mongooses FC's Boyan Ketzkarov, who 83 minutes into the game made a penalty shot that went in on the goalkeeper's left side. 86 minutes into the match, Costa Rica's goalkeeper Benito Sanz had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Boyan Ketzkarov. In the 87th minute The Fighting Mongooses FC were awarded a corner. Boyan Ketzkarov went to the cornerflag to take it. The Fighting Mongooses FC's Velislav Lyutov was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Benito Sanz in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. A collision led to The Fighting Mongooses FC getting a freekick after 92 minutes play. Jedrzej Jaktorowo hit a great ball. If Adam Kanczuszewski had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 97th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The Fighting Mongooses FC's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
