Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 17th minute of the match, managed to save Venezuela from getting a goal against them. Doriva Figueiredo didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Tomas Illescas went, in the 21st minute, to the upper right corner, 0-2 was the resulting score. Doriva Figueiredo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Patricio Costa, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After having played for 26 minutes, Patricio Costa managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Venezuela's supporters crossed their fingers, but Patricio Costa was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. A collision led to Jucuitiba getting a freekick after 28 minutes play. Luiz Guilherme Romero hit a great ball. Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 32nd minute of the match, managed to save Venezuela from getting a goal against them. In the 33rd minute of the match Jucuitiba got a corner. Venezuela's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Luiz Guilherme Romero ran over to the corner to take the kick. After taking down the ball on Jucuitiba's corner Luiz Guilherme Romero fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Jonathan Ferrant quite easily take care of the ball. After 37 minutes Venezuela's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Luiz Guilherme Romero who took care of the corner kick. Ronaldo Nóbrega's late challenge caught a Venezuela's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Ronaldo Nóbrega helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Jucuitiba's Ronaldo Nóbrega got a free kick in the 39th minute. Jonathan Ferrant made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Luiz Guilherme Romero in the 42nd minute of play. Disappointed in the 0-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Tomas Illescas made a kick off. Doriva Figueiredo stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Tomas Illescas's shot from short distance in the 51st minute. Alfredão Gomes blasted a shot towards the goal in the 56th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Jonathan Ferrant having to make a save. Ronaldo Nóbrega hit a great freekick 63 minutes into the match. The audience thought a goal was coming when Tomas Illescas got free with Doriva Figueiredo in the 71st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 73rd minute Michel Agüero shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jonathan Ferrant saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Patricio Costa sent away a hard shot on goal in the 79th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Tomas Illescas fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 81st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Doriva Figueiredo having to interfere. In the 84th minute Patricio Costa shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Doriva Figueiredo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 87 minutes into the match, Venezuela's Tomas Illescas sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Doriva Figueiredo narrowly saved just below the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Tomas Illescas in the 89th minute of play forced Jucuitiba's goalkeeper Doriva Figueiredo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Venezuela were delighted with the way they had won the match. They had held their defensive line well and made the most of their chances, to claim a victory over Jucuitiba's much stronger midfield.
