When the match clock showed 4 minutes, the score became 0-1 when Medero Nadal sped through Costa Rica's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Benito Sanz. Rodrigo Ramos took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Eliseo Noboa, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Aaron Alcocer kicked well hit freekick during the 7th minute of the match. After 10 minutes, Alexander Carballo mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Costa Rica and the VALPICA C.F. players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of VALPICA C.F. booed when Costa Rica was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 10 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alexander Carballo didn't get a good kick on the ball. Alan Moruga kicked well hit freekick during the 35th minute of the match. After a rather tough play, VALPICA C.F.'s Alain Losada got a free kick in the 37th minute. Axel Tasis in the 41stth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

With a little luck, Costa Rica's Benito Sanz got control of the ball when Medero Nadal tried to sneak it across the goal line. Costa Rica's Benito Sanz proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 57th minute of the match, managed to save Costa Rica from getting a goal against them. Alan Moruga's late challenge caught a VALPICA C.F.'s player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Costa Rica's Benito Sanz proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 77th minute of the match, managed to save Costa Rica from getting a goal against them. A collision led to VALPICA C.F. getting a freekick after 80 minutes play. Alain Losada hit a great ball. The supporters of VALPICA C.F. booed when Costa Rica was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 85 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alan Moruga didn't get a good kick on the ball. Benito Sanz made an important save on a dangerous shot by Medero Nadal in the 89th minute. Costa Rica's Benito Sanz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tavio Rienda in the 92nd minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 95th minute, Cipriano Lastras managed to get in a good position for a shot. VALPICA C.F.'s supporters rose to their feet, but Cipriano Lastras was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Benito Sanz breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. VALPICA C.F. played a much better game than Costa Rica and deserved their victory. The Costa Rica players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
