The supporters of Ecuador booed when Los Galacticos was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 17 match minutes in a wonderful position. Edwardo McDermott didn't get a good kick on the ball. Gilesindo Tarapiella blasted a shot towards the goal in the 20th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Julio Vera having to make a save. Daniel Zorita's late challenge caught a Los Galacticos's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Daniel Zorita helped the player get up and apologised. In the 35th match minute, Ecuador was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Daniel Zorita to maneuver through the defense. Zhu Xi made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Daniel Zorita in the 37th minute of play. After having played for 38 minutes, Daniel Zorita managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ecuador's supporters crossed their fingers, but Daniel Zorita was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. When Felix Montenegro fell near the penalty area in the 44th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Ecuador's protests and gave Felix Montenegro a yellow card for diving instead. In the 44th match minute, Ecuador was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Felix Montenegro to maneuver through the defense. 45 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Gilesindo Tarapiella. After 47 played minutes Ecuador got a freekick which was hit by Camilo Gisbert. A hard shot by Xie Yue Chao from long distance, 48 minutes into the match, got Julio Vera's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. The Los Galacticos players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Ecuador were winning 0-3.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Kong Jing Kun was the one to do the kick off. Julio Vera came out of the goal in the 52nd minute to try and stop a shot by Los Galacticos's Gilesindo Tarapiella. But to his dismay, Gilesindo Tarapiella quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-3. After 57 minutes Ecuador's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Xie Yue Chao who took care of the corner kick. After a defensive mix-up in Los Galacticos's zone, Cristian Sancho stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Zhu Xi came out of the goal and Cristian Sancho tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Felix Montenegro got his second yellow card in the match during the 67th minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. In the 67th match minute, Ecuador was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Felix Montenegro to maneuver through the defense. When Cristian Sancho came up free with the goalie in the 72nd minute, the Ecuador fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Cristian Sancho couldn't finish the play. After 78 played minutes Ecuador got a freekick which was hit by Camilo Gisbert. An unexpectedly hard shot by Kong Jing Kun in the 79th minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Ecuador's Agustín Saelices got a good chance for a goal in the 81st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Daniel Zorita's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Zhu Xi firmly grabbed it by the left post. In the 88th minute, Daniel Zorita ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Zhu Xi was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-4.
