The Peru fans' excitement grew in the 36th match minute when Peru's Milagros Fraga looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. 42 minutes into the match, Peru's goal looked a bit too open when Bent Streyder came free, but Rolando Noboa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Rolando Noboa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Magnus Steinwart, who was totally free with the ball in the 88th minute. Antonio Tenorio's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Tristan Nordlet firmly grabbed it by the left post. 94 minutes into the game, Kalle Molnit threw the ball into play from the sideline. Peru's Eliseo Mina quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion.
