Spectators: 45 (Terracing: 35, Seating: 10, VIP seats: 0) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Elpidio Francis kicked off to start the match. In the 8th match minute, Ecuador was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Antonio Arias to maneuver through the defense. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Elpidio Francis in the 9th minute of play. 12 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Elpidio Francis came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 13 minutes into the match, ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA's goalkeeper Branislav Velchevski had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Daniel Zorita. Daniel Zorita received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Branislav Velchevski came out and tried to block the shot, but Daniel Zorita slotted it home off the left post making it 1-0 in the 13th minute. Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Elpidio Francis, who was totally free with the ball in the 21st minute. In the 22nd minute, Arnaldo Gabon ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Julio Vera was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1. Cristian Sanchos short, quick shot in the 26thth minute got Branislav Velchevski to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Daniel Zorita in the 27thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Branislav Velchevski, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Elpidio Francis in the 32nd minute of play. Julio Vera came out of the goal in the 39th minute to try and stop a shot by ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA's Elpidio Francis. But to his dismay, Elpidio Francis quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-2. Felix Montenegro in the 43rdth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Branislav Velchevski, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. The supporters of Ecuador booed when ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 45 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rafael Dalmu didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Arnaldo Gabon came up free with the goalie in the 48th minute, the ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Arnaldo Gabon couldn't finish the play.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Daniel Zorita made a kick off. The corner led ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA's Rafael Dalmu to fire away a dangerous shot which Julio Vera despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Elpidio Francis's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Julio Vera read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 57th minute of play. ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA's Aristides Asteri was substituted for Arnaldo Gabon. ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA made a substitution. André Monclús replaced Elpidio Francis. ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Esteban Iztal in the 60th minute. ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA's Esteban Iztal was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Julio Vera in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Branislav Velchevski took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Daniel Zorita, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Rafael Dalmu in the 68th minute of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Daniel Zorita in the 80th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Branislav Velchevski saved ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA from getting behind. In the 90th minute Daniel Zorita shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Branislav Velchevski saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Felix Montenegro in the 92nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Branislav Velchevski saved ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA from getting behind. 95 minutes into the match, André Monclús notched a goal, 1-3, to the right of Ecuador's Julio Vera. Julio Vera was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Chants of ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA echoed around the stadium as the match drew to a close. Supporters and players were both delighted with the win, as Ecuador had held the ball for most of the match.
