A wasted opportunity for Venezuela. 14 minutes into the match, Behçet Alp had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Jonathan Ferrant. Venezuela's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Behçet Alp was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-0. In the 20th minute, Tomas Illescas ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Angelo Boni was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-1. In the 23rd minute of the match, Behçet Alp tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Jonathan Ferrant saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. The corner ended in Andriy Shevchenko almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant did a great save. Jonathan Ferrant made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ryan Portanares in the 26th minute of play. Angelo Boni made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tomas Illescas in the 30th minute of play. After 32 minutes Farafulla FC's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Tomas Illescas who took care of the corner kick. The corner ended in Tomas Illescas almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Farafulla FC's Angelo Boni did a great save. Donato Berardi tried to clear up in front of the goal, but didn't succeed and rather the ball rolled into the own goal to the right of a despaired Angelo Boni. An unnecessary self made goal, 2-2 in the 32nd minute. Venezuela's Tomas Illescas got a good chance for a goal in the 36th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. A wasted opportunity for Farafulla FC. 44 minutes into the match, Venezuela's goalkeeper Jonathan Ferrant had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Andriy Shevchenko. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Andriy Shevchenko stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Alfredo Pantani fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 66th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jonathan Ferrant having to interfere. 73 minutes into the match, Venezuela's goal looked a bit too open when Andriy Shevchenko came free, but Jonathan Ferrant reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Jonathan Ferrant showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Anıl Ege Karluk, who was totally free with the ball in the 77th minute. At last the ball reached Ryan Portanares at the corner, ending with a kick to difficult to stop for the goalkeeper of Venezuela. 5-2.
