A collision led to Venezuela getting a freekick after 17 minutes play. Jonathan Venegas hit a great ball. Angelo Boni didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Tomas Illescas went, in the 25th minute, to the upper right corner, 3-1 was the resulting score. Tomas Illescas might have been able to make a better finish in the 31st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Angelo Boni. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Tomas Illescas ran back to his position shaking his head. Angelo Boni made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Patricio Costa in the 36th minute of play. If Fabio Alfieri had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 39th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Camilo Gaos's late challenge caught a Farafulla FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Camilo Gaos helped the player get up and apologised. Camilo Gaos kicked well hit freekick during the 40th minute of the match. In the 44th minute, Behçet Alp got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. A hard shot 45 in the game by Andriy Shevchenko from a close distance when the talented Jonathan Ferrant managed to make a qualified save. Venezuela's players were relieved. In the 47th minute, Ryan Portanares reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Jonathan Ferrant. The goal made the score 4-1. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The supporters of Venezuela booed when Farafulla FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 91 match minutes in a wonderful position. Fabio Alfieri didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 93rd minute, Anıl Ege Karluk hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Patricio Costa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 94th minute.
