Seating: 10, VIP seats: 0) Mariano Lacasa started the match with the kick off in front of an excited audience. In the 2nd minute Arkadiusz Banaszak shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Thiago Pliego saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 4th minute, Arkadiusz Banaszak managed to get in a good position for a shot. Boca Juniors's supporters rose to their feet, but Arkadiusz Banaszak was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Thiago Pliego breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. With an all-out effort, Boca Juniors's Thiago Pliego threw himself towards the right post 10 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Arkadiusz Banaszak, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Thiago Pliego made an important save on a dangerous shot by Hitzeder Manrique in the 12th minute. Merih Sikevich was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 14 minutes into the match. In a very dangerous position, a player in Boca Juniors fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 14th minute. Penalty! 16 minutes into the match, Mariano Lacasa had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Jacinto Cuadrado. Boca Juniors's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Mariano Lacasa was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. 20 minutes into the match, Boca Juniors's goal looked a bit too open when Mariano Lacasa came free, but Jacinto Cuadrado reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 24 minutes into the match, Chile's Mariano Lacasa sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Jacinto Cuadrado narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Chile were awarded a corner in the 25th minute after Boca Juniors's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Mariano Lacasa took the corner. Chile's Xavier Figueroa was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Jacinto Cuadrado in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. After 30 played minutes Chile got a freekick which was hit by Gerardo Pozo. When the match had gone on for 32 minutes, Hitzeder Manrique took a quick shot and it went in 1-1 without a chance for Thiago Pliego to make any attempt to save it. The audience was convinced that Mariano Lacasa's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Jacinto Cuadrado was relentless in the 35th minute of the game. Thiago Pliego made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Rolando Amorebieta in the 40th minute of play. Gabriel Martinelli kicked well hit freekick during the 42nd minute of the match. Chile's Mariano Lacasa got a good chance for a goal in the 43rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. When Rainerio Obis fell near the penalty area in the 44th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Boca Juniors's protests and gave Rainerio Obis a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Chile booed when Boca Juniors was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 44 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rainerio Obis didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.
The wind increased when Hitzeder Manrique made the kick off in the second half. 50 minutes into the game, Chile's Orlando Casaus nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Jacinto Cuadrado made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-2. The audience was convinced that Mariano Lacasa's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Jacinto Cuadrado was relentless in the 54th minute of the game. After some fancy dribbling in the 61st minute, Hitzeder Manrique managed to get in a good position for a shot. Boca Juniors's supporters rose to their feet, but Hitzeder Manrique was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Thiago Pliego breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The audience was convinced that Rolando Amorebieta's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Thiago Pliego was relentless in the 65th minute of the game. Gabriel Martinelli fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 66th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Thiago Pliego having to interfere. Thiago Pliego showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Hitzeder Manrique, who was totally free with the ball in the 70th minute. Mariano Lacasa might have been able to make a better finish in the 82nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Jacinto Cuadrado. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Mariano Lacasa ran back to his position shaking his head. Thiago Pliego took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Rolando Amorebieta, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Mariano Lacasa struck a weak shot in the 87th minute. Jacinto Cuadrado didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Chile. After having played for 91 minutes, Rainerio Obis managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Boca Juniors's supporters crossed their fingers, but Rainerio Obis was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Chile eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
