Chile's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Hitzeder Manrique was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. Thiago Pliego made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Hitzeder Manrique in the 36th minute of play. After some careless play in the Chile defense, Hitzeder Manrique kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Thiago Pliego. The Chile fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Thiago Pliego should have stopped the shot. Jacinto Cuadrado took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Mariano Lacasa, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Thiago Pliego showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Rainerio Obis, who was totally free with the ball in the 47th minute. The Chile players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Boca Juniors were winning 0-2.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Hitzeder Manrique made a kick off. The audience thought a goal was coming when Hitzeder Manrique got free with Thiago Pliego in the 51st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 52nd minute Mariano Lacasa shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jacinto Cuadrado saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Mariano Lacasa in the 52nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Jacinto Cuadrado saved Boca Juniors from getting behind. In the 55th minute the ball was on its way in behind Boca Juniors's goalkeeper Jacinto Cuadrado, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar.
