Benito Sanz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Benjamin Liher, who was totally free with the ball in the 12th minute. Axel Tasis could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 14th minute of the match, but Ariel Cristante made a huge save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Simon Lehen in the 16th minute of play forced Costa Rica's goalkeeper Benito Sanz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 17th minute Ejército Soviético were awarded a corner. Simon Lehen went to the cornerflag to take it. After taking down the ball on Ejército Soviético's corner Simon Lehen fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Benito Sanz quite easily take care of the ball. Hugo Ferrant thought of kicking away a contribution in front of goal but messed it up so badly that the ball went to the right of an astonished Benito Sanz, a very annoying self made goal in the 17th minute which led to 0-1. The throw-in from Hugo Ferrant in the 20th minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by Ejército Soviético's Ermegildo Restu. In the 22nd minute, Lautaro Puig got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After a rather tough play, Ejército Soviético's Baltasar Ostots got a free kick in the 27th minute. Efrain Moruga made in the 31st minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by Ejército Soviético's Mauricio Gorbea. Ejército Soviético's Felipe Pinto managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Efrain Moruga in the 36 minute of the game. Lautaro Puig could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 47th minute of the match, but Ariel Cristante made a huge save.

Lautaro Puig blasted a shot towards the goal in the 55th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Ariel Cristante having to make a save. Eliseo Noboa received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 56th minute. Ariel Cristante tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Ariel Cristante made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Axel Tasis in the 58th minute of play. After a rather tough play, Costa Rica's Lautaro Puig got a free kick in the 60th minute. With a little luck, Costa Rica's Benito Sanz got control of the ball when Benjamin Liher tried to sneak it across the goal line. Eliseo Noboa fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 81st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ariel Cristante having to interfere. Eliseo Noboa struck a weak shot in the 85th minute. Ariel Cristante didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Costa Rica. Ariel Cristante took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Lautaro Puig, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. With a little luck, Costa Rica's Benito Sanz got control of the ball when Simon Lehen tried to sneak it across the goal line. Eliseo Noboa hit a great freekick 89 minutes into the match. Axel Tasis recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 91st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The supporters of Ejército Soviético booed when Costa Rica was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 96 match minutes in a wonderful position. Eliseo Noboa didn't get a good kick on the ball. The Costa Rica fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Ejército Soviético were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
