With a little luck, Gaita´s club's Jaime Cortez got control of the ball when Daniel Zorita tried to sneak it across the goal line. Osvaldo Asteri kicked well hit freekick during the 27th minute of the match. 28 minutes into the game, Cristian Sancho cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-0. Jaime Cortez was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. The audience thought a goal was coming when Daniel Zorita got free with Jaime Cortez in the 31st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Ecuador's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Daniel Zorita in the 32nd minute. Cristian Sancho's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Jaime Cortez firmly grabbed it by the left post. Kurtuluş Tuğcu kicked well hit freekick during the 42nd minute of the match. Jaime Cortez made an important save on a dangerous shot by Daniel Zorita in the 44th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 79th minute, Daniel Zorita managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ecuador's supporters rose to their feet, but Daniel Zorita was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Jaime Cortez breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Agustín Saelices sent away a hard shot on goal in the 80th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 83 minutes, Dawid Szotek mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Gaita´s club and the Ecuador players grew even worse after the yellow card. Vladimiro Azubeli replaced Delmiro Xabel. In the 93rd minute Cristian Sancho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jaime Cortez saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.
