ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA's Tautvydas Mickevičius played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Eliseo Noboa in the 29th minute of play. Axel Tasis could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 31st minute of the match, but Tautvydas Mickevičius made a huge save. Eliseo Noboa fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 32nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tautvydas Mickevičius having to interfere. ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA's Gogo Azibar quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Efrain Moruga, made in the 37th minute of the game. After a defensive mix-up in Costa Rica's zone, Ricardo Weterio stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Benito Sanz came out of the goal and Ricardo Weterio tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Axel Tasiss short, quick shot in the 42ndth minute got Tautvydas Mickevičius to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Axel Tasis was the one to do the kick off. If Alfredo Zoido had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 52nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Axel Tasis in the 54th minute of play forced ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA's goalkeeper Tautvydas Mickevičius to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Eliseo Noboa kicked well hit freekick during the 76th minute of the match. If Cosme Crescencio had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 77th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Axel Tasis in the 79th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Tautvydas Mickevičius prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Eliseo Noboa sent away a hard shot on goal in the 80th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. A sloppy throw-in by Hugo Ferrant in the 88th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA's Cosme Crescencio. Ricardo Weterio fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 94th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Benito Sanz having to interfere. Gabriel Turi sent away a hard shot on goal in the 96th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal.
