George Clayson hit a great freekick 4 minutes into the match. Rapid's Edwin van der Saar proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 7th minute of the match, managed to save Rapid from getting a goal against them. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Edmundo Espiga in the 11th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Edwin van der Saar saved Rapid from getting behind. Leon Palban struck a weak shot in the 18th minute. Lautaro Navarro didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Rapid. Sebastian Villa might have been able to make a better finish in the 21st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Edwin van der Saar. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Sebastian Villa ran back to his position shaking his head. After 23 played minutes Honduras got a freekick which was hit by Ivan Navarro. Milagros Cabal kicked well hit freekick during the 24th minute of the match. In the 25th minute, Ian Sparks got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 28 minutes into the match, Honduras's goal looked a bit too open when Ian Sparks came free, but Lautaro Navarro reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The supporters of Honduras booed when Rapid was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 31 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ian Sparks didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 33 minutes, Ian Sparks made it 0-1 with a short kick to the right side. Honduras's Lautaro Navarro tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 39th minute, Leon Palban left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Rapid fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-2. If Leon Palban had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 43rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.

The wind increased when Edmundo Espiga made the kick off in the second half. Lautaro Navarro made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ian Sparks in the 52nd minute of play. Edwin van der Saar showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Edmundo Espiga in the 53rd minute of the match. 55 minutes into the match, Edmundo Espiga had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Edwin van der Saar. Rapid's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Edmundo Espiga was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-2. Edwin van der Saar made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Moises Tafalla in the 58th minute of play. In the 59th minute Honduras were awarded a corner. Edmundo Espiga went to the cornerflag to take it. Nicasio Sidoro made in the 61st minute of the game a quick throw-in and Trent Salter immediately put the ball in play. Ian Sparks could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 62nd minute of the match, but Lautaro Navarro made a huge save. When Honduras's Sebastian Villa in the 63rd minute got a chance for a shot 63rd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Rapid's goalie prevented a goal. A sloppy throw-in by Nicasio Sidoro in the 91st minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Honduras's Luca Espinar. The Honduras supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Rapid's performance. The match ended with a win for Rapid.
