In the 26th minute the ball was on its way in behind Santa Fe's goalkeeper Shao Jing Yuan, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Daniel Zorita scored 2-1 in the 38th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Shao Jing Yuan, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Santa Fe's Shao Jing Yuan played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Luis Andino in the 40th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Luis Andino in the 46th minute of play forced Santa Fe's goalkeeper Shao Jing Yuan to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The supporters of Ecuador booed when Santa Fe was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 90 match minutes in a wonderful position. Sandro Coisne didn't get a good kick on the ball.
