With a couple of smart ball manuevers Cristian Sancho in the 23rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Artur Chaves saved Motta Futebol Clube from getting behind. After a rather tough play, Motta Futebol Clube's João Vítor de Lara got a free kick in the 24th minute. Artur Chaves was a little too slow when Cristian Sancho got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 27th minute. The score was now 2-0. With a little luck, Motta Futebol Clube's Artur Chaves got control of the ball when Daniel Zorita tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 41st match minute, Motta Futebol Clube was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Edvaldo dos Santos to maneuver through the defense. The audience thought a goal was coming when Cristian Sancho got free with Artur Chaves in the 44th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-0 at half-time.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Daniel Zorita was the one to do the kick off. After some careless play in the Motta Futebol Clube defense, Daniel Zorita kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Artur Chaves. The Motta Futebol Clube fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Artur Chaves should have stopped the shot. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Toninho Ceresso in the 64th minute of play. In the 82nd minute Agustín Saelices shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Artur Chaves saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Daniel Zorita had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 86th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Felix Montes kicked well hit freekick during the 90th minute of the match. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Edvaldo dos Santos in the 91st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Julio Vera prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Ecuador's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
