Tautvydas Mickevičius took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Patricio Costa, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Venezuela's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Tomas Illescas in the 21st minute. After taking down the ball on Venezuela's corner Tomas Illescas fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Tautvydas Mickevičius quite easily take care of the ball. The throw-in from Guillermo Mariano in the 25th minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA's Osvaldo Gabon. Guillermo Mariano made in the 26th minute of the game a fairly good throw-in which was taken care of by Tomas Illescas. ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA's Tautvydas Mickevičius proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 27th minute of the match, managed to save ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA from getting a goal against them. 30 minutes into the game, Salvador Gisbert threw the ball into play from the sideline. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.
