Peru's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Tahsin Elçioğlu was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-1. Peru's Rolando Noboa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tahsin Elçioğlu in the 24th minute of play. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-1 at half-time.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Julian Murillo was the one to do the kick off. Rolando Noboa showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Albano Boni in the 76th minute of the match. Peru's Rafael Gallo was substituted for Julian Murillo. After some fancy dribbling in the 89th minute, Rafael Gallo managed to get in a good position for a shot. Peru's supporters rose to their feet, but Rafael Gallo was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Per-Arne Vidman breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Per-Arne Vidman stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Eliseo Mina's shot from short distance in the 92nd minute. Rolando Noboa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gustavo-Hernán Vallejo in the 93rd minute of play. Through an outstanding action, after 95 minutes, Per-Arne Vidman successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. The Kropotkins pojkar supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Peru's performance. The match ended with a win for Peru.
