Ysidro Colimán took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Alberto Tafalla, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Rolando Ortega scored 1-0 in the 32nd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Dante Lacasa, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. The throw-in from Silvestre Romo in the 37th minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by Mexico's Facundo Cadaval. 41 minutes into the match, Luca Zorita had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Ysidro Colimán. Deportes Vαldiviα's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Luca Zorita was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-1. Felix Luque lost his temper 45 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 44th minute of the game. One of Mexico:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Deportes Vαldiviα:s goal. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-1 at half-time.
