When Ecuador's Cristian Sancho in 14 game minutes managed to cut through with the ball in front of the goal, only having to shoot. Jaime Almeida guarding the goal like a pit bull was extremely focused and managed to reach the ball just by the crossbar before it went in. In the 17th minute Corinthians were awarded a corner. Ignacy Kinic went to the cornerflag to take it. A nice corner shot did that Ignacy Kinic got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Julio Vera quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. An unexpectedly hard shot by José Vítor Ramos in the 19th minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Daniel Zorita had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 20th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The audience thought a goal was coming when Cristiano Messi got free with Julio Vera in the 24th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Cristian Sancho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 31st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jaime Almeida having to interfere. In the 33rd minute, Juan Sebastián Puig hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Felix Montenegro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 37th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jiang Yi Chong in the 41st minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When the match had gone on for 41 minutes, Cristiano Messi put it in 1-0 from a short distance just to the right of Julio Vera. When Primitivo Andino fell near the penalty area in the 45th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Ecuador's protests and gave Primitivo Andino a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, Ecuador's Primitivo Andino got a free kick in the 45th minute. The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Daniel Zorita to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 53rd minute Cristian Sancho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jaime Almeida saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A very good chance. 73 minutes into the game, Cristian Sancho cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-1. Jaime Almeida was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 77th minute Agustín Saelices shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jaime Almeida saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With a little luck, Corinthians's Jaime Almeida got control of the ball when Cristian Sancho tried to sneak it across the goal line. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Cristiano Messi in the 82nd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Julio Vera prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Corinthians's Jaime Almeida proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 85th minute of the match, managed to save Corinthians from getting a goal against them. Jaime Almeida showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Luis Andino in the 87th minute of the match. Daniel Zorita sent away a hard shot on goal in the 88th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When the match had gone on for 90 minutes, Felix Montenegro took a quick shot and it went in 1-2 without a chance for Jaime Almeida to make any attempt to save it.
