After a defensive mix-up in Corinthians's zone, Joel Gaona stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jaime Almeida came out of the goal and Joel Gaona tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Lautaro Mancebo in the 21st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Jaime Almeida saved Corinthians from getting behind. In the 22nd minute José Vítor Ramos shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dante Lacasa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Jaime Almeida made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Alberto Tafalla in the 25th minute of play. Mexico were awarded a corner in the 26th minute after Corinthians's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Joel Gaona took the corner. Mexico's Joel Gaona was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Jaime Almeida in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. The audience thought a goal was coming when Ignacy Kinic got free with Dante Lacasa in the 32nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 37th minute, Lautaro Mancebo got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The supporters of Corinthians booed when Mexico was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 43 match minutes in a wonderful position. Facundo Cadaval didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 44th minute Cristiano Messi shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dante Lacasa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Dante Lacasa showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cristiano Messi in the 44th minute of the match. In the 47th match minute, Corinthians was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Chris Mas to maneuver through the defense. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Joel Gaona was the one to do the kick off. Jaime Almeida showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Joel Gaona in the 62nd minute of the match. In the 66th minute the ball was on its way in behind Mexico's goalkeeper Dante Lacasa, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Lautaro Mancebo could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 67th minute of the match, but Jaime Almeida made a huge save. Lautaro Mancebo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 69th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jaime Almeida having to interfere. Dante Lacasa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cristiano Messi, who was totally free with the ball in the 73rd minute. With an all-out effort, Mexico's Jaime Almeida threw himself towards the right post 75 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Joel Gaona, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. In the 78th minute Alberto Tafalla shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jaime Almeida saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Leopoldo Palmeira kicked well hit freekick during the 84th minute of the match. Jaime Almeida took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Joel Gaona, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The supporters of Corinthians booed when Mexico was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 91 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alberto Tafalla didn't get a good kick on the ball. When the match was over Mexico could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Corinthians throughout the match.
