In the 9th minute Felix Montenegro shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Constantin Ciolacu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Zebastian Soned came up free with the goalie in the 11th minute, the Paris Saint-Germain fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Zebastian Soned couldn't finish the play. After a rather tough play, Paris Saint-Germain's Viktoras Siozos got a free kick in the 15th minute. Constantin Ciolacu showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cristian Sancho, who was totally free with the ball in the 16th minute. A collision led to Paris Saint-Germain getting a freekick after 17 minutes play. Viriato lacerda hit a great ball. Cristian Sancho recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 40th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Ecuador's Cristian Sancho got a good chance for a goal in the 44th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 47th minute of the match, Zebastian Soned tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Julio Vera saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Paris Saint-Germain were awarded a corner in the 48th minute after Ecuador's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Valeriu Enache took the corner. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

Julio Vera made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-0. Zebastian Soned hit a great freekick 60 minutes into the match. Cristian Sancho hit a great freekick 62 minutes into the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 64th minute, Daniel Zorita managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ecuador's supporters rose to their feet, but Daniel Zorita was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Constantin Ciolacu breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After 66 minutes, George Rareș mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Paris Saint-Germain and the Ecuador players grew even worse after the yellow card. An unexpectedly hard shot by George Rareș in the 71st minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 81 minutes Ecuador's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Valeriu Enache who took care of the corner kick. Julio Vera took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Zebastian Soned, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 90th minute, George Rareș hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. For all the effort they put into the match, the Ecuador players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Paris Saint-Germain.
