Stasio Kajder who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 12thth minute tested the skills of Rolando Noboa when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Peyo Menendez showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Julian Murillo, who was totally free with the ball in the 14th minute. 17 minutes into the game, Julian Murillo cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Peyo Menendez was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Peyo Menendez came out of the goal in the 20th minute to try and stop a shot by Peru's Julian Murillo. But to his dismay, Julian Murillo quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-2. Eliseo Mina might have been able to make a better finish in the 23rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Peyo Menendez. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Eliseo Mina ran back to his position shaking his head. The audience thought a goal was coming when Stasio Kajder got free with Rolando Noboa in the 33rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 34th minute Julian Murillo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Peyo Menendez saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Peru's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Luz Tejedor in the 36th minute. Peyo Menendez took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Eliseo Mina, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Julian Murillo scored 0-5 in the 43rd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Peyo Menendez, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 46th match minute, Inter Porteño was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Alex Patt to maneuver through the defense. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-5 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Peyo Menendez showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Rafael Gallo, who was totally free with the ball in the 94th minute. When Rafael Gallo came up free with the goalie in the 98th minute, the Peru fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Rafael Gallo couldn't finish the play.
