Seating: 10, VIP seats: 0) The sun was shining, the grass was green and the audience cheered when Daniel Zorita got the match started through his kick off. The Ecuador fans' excitement grew in the 3rd match minute when Ecuador's Cristian Sancho looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Cristian Sancho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 6th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Kim Hänninen having to interfere. 15 minutes into the match, Ecuador's Cristian Sancho sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Kim Hänninen narrowly saved just below the crossbar. If Agustín Saelices had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 29th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 31st minute Felix Montenegro shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Kim Hänninen saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 34th minute, Cristian Sancho managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ecuador's supporters rose to their feet, but Cristian Sancho was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Kim Hänninen breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Kim Hänninen took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cristian Sancho, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.
The supporters of Ecuador booed when Fragleses was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 50 match minutes in a wonderful position. Zlatko Ibrahimović didn't get a good kick on the ball. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Wiktor Gomolka in the 53rd minute of play. If Daniel Zorita had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 59th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Kim Hänninen was out of position in the 61 minute of play, and Cristian Sancho capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Cristian Sancho really showed his touch with that goal: 1-2. After 65 minutes Fragleses's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Daniel Zorita who took care of the corner kick. The corner ended in Daniel Zorita almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Fragleses's Kim Hänninen did a great save. Wiktor Gomolka struck a weak shot in the 66th minute. Julio Vera didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Fragleses. When Zlatko Ibrahimović came up free with the goalie in the 68th minute, the Fragleses fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Zlatko Ibrahimović couldn't finish the play. If Daniel Zorita had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 69th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Julio Vera stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Grzegorz Rasiak's shot from short distance in the 79th minute. Kim Hänninen made an important save on a dangerous shot by Cristian Sancho in the 80th minute. Cristian Sancho received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 82nd minute. Kim Hänninen tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 85 played minutes Fragleses got a freekick which was hit by Adam Zawaski. The supporters of Ecuador booed when Fragleses was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 93 match minutes in a wonderful position. Adam Zawaski didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 97th minute Grzegorz Rasiak shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ecuador were disappointed that they only managed a draw, even though they felt themselves to be the better team.
