Mauro Bezerra ran back to his position shaking his head. Pedro Manzanares made a fantastic save in the 10th minute, when Mauro Bezerra sent off a good shot on target. Pedro Manzanares was a little too slow when Mauro Bezerra got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 17th minute. The score was now 1-0. 21 minutes into the match, Colombia's goal looked a bit too open when Mauro Bezerra came free, but Pedro Manzanares reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Colombia's Pedro Manzanares played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Musko Cuevas in the 23rd minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Colombia's zone, Saul Piarres stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Pedro Manzanares came out of the goal and Saul Piarres tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Pedro Manzanares took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Musko Cuevas, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Mauro Bezerra could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 31st minute of the match, but Pedro Manzanares made a huge save. Mauro Bezerra blasted a shot towards the goal in the 34th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Pedro Manzanares having to make a save. Pedro Manzanares made an important save on a dangerous shot by Mauro Bezerra in the 34th minute. The supporters of Schuster booed when Colombia was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 45 match minutes in a wonderful position. Pascual Carballar didn't get a good kick on the ball. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Mauro Bezerra to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 51st minute, Mauro Bezerra ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Pedro Manzanares was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-0. Axel Montenegro in the 65thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Donato Ali, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Colombia made a substitution. Ignacio Mastache replaced Abram Sarmiento. Donato Ali showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ignacio Mastache in the 69th minute of the match. 74 minutes into the match, Abram Secada notched a goal, 2-1, to the right of Schuster's Donato Ali.
