Julio Vera stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Victorino Peake's shot from short distance in the 21st minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Daniel Zorita in the 23rd minute of play forced FC Anderlecht Huachipato's goalkeeper Serbülent Baysan to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 29 minutes had been played when some careless play by FC Anderlecht Huachipato's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Daniel Zorita was slow to take the kick. During this time Ecuador's players had a chance to rest. The corner led to Ecuador's Felix Montenegro getting away a dangerous shot that went just outside the goal. Felix Montenegro recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 32nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Cristian Sancho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 37th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Serbülent Baysan having to interfere. After 39 played minutes FC Anderlecht Huachipato got a freekick which was hit by Lucero Liendo. Ecuador's Daniel Zorita got a good chance for a goal in the 40th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Daniel Zorita sent away a hard shot on goal in the 45th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Julio Vera stood somewhat misplaced when Vitaliy Fedchenko came free in front of goal and shot 1-1 to the left of him in the 47 minute.

In the 53rd minute, Maximino Astudillo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. A collision led to Ecuador getting a freekick after 56 minutes play. Antonio Arias hit a great ball. Julio Vera took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Baumar Ontanilla, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Serbülent Baysan was a little too slow when Daniel Zorita got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 61st minute. The score was now 1-2. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alberto-Federico Acosta in the 63rd minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 64th minute, Julio Cachero hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. FC Anderlecht Huachipato made a substitution. Felix Txilar replaced Maximino Astudillo. With a little luck, FC Anderlecht Huachipato's Serbülent Baysan got control of the ball when Daniel Zorita tried to sneak it across the goal line. Julio Vera didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Alberto-Federico Acosta went, in the 93rd minute, to the upper right corner, 3-2 was the resulting score. 97 minutes into the match, Daniel Zorita notched a goal, 3-3, to the right of FC Anderlecht Huachipato's Serbülent Baysan. Serbülent Baysan was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Ecuador were unable to convert their possession into goals, allowing FC Anderlecht Huachipato to leave the ground with a draw.
