A nice corner shot did that Felix Montes got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Buford Lim quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. After 17 minutes, Daniel Zorita mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Ecuador and the C.A.Independiente players grew even worse after the yellow card. A hard shot 19 in the game by Tom Misaki from a close distance when the talented Julio Vera managed to make a qualified save. Ecuador's players were relieved. A collision led to C.A.Independiente getting a freekick after 20 minutes play. Bernardino Gonsalve hit a great ball. A sloppy throw-in by Camilo Gisbert in the 26th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by C.A.Independiente's Nereo Frederico. Julio Vera made a fantastic save in the 39th minute, when Tom Misaki sent off a good shot on target. When Daniel Zorita came up free with the goalie in the 41st minute, the Ecuador fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Daniel Zorita couldn't finish the play. The supporters of Ecuador booed when C.A.Independiente was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 46 match minutes in a wonderful position. Bernardino Gonsalve didn't get a good kick on the ball. 48 minutes into the match, Daniel Zorita notched a goal, 0-2, to the right of C.A.Independiente's Buford Lim. Buford Lim was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-2.

Daniel Zorita could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 57th minute of the match, but Buford Lim made a huge save. 63 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Heigo Luiga came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Heigo Luiga fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 84th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Julio Vera having to interfere. C.A.Independiente's Quentin Holman was substituted for Ambrosio Ovando. Julio Vera showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Tom Misaki in the 86th minute of the match. After a defensive mix-up in Ecuador's zone, Tom Misaki stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Julio Vera came out of the goal and Tom Misaki tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 93 minutes, Tom Misaki made it 1-2 with a short kick to the right side. Ecuador's Julio Vera tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. After 98 played minutes C.A.Independiente got a freekick which was hit by Justino Confesor. When the match was over Ecuador could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than C.A.Independiente throughout the match.
