Seating: 9, VIP seats: 0) Daniel Zorita started the match with the kick off in front of an excited audience. 3 minutes into the game, Inter de São Paulo's Laércio Loureiro nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Julio Vera made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-0. Kléber Salles took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cristian Sancho, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 10th match minute, Ecuador was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Antonio Arias to maneuver through the defense. Laércio Loureiro might have been able to make a better finish in the 11th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Julio Vera. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Laércio Loureiro ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 12th minute Daniel Zorita shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Kléber Salles saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 12 minutes into the match, Daniel Zorita notched a goal, 1-1, to the right of Inter de São Paulo's Kléber Salles. Kléber Salles was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. The supporters of Ecuador booed when Inter de São Paulo was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 15 match minutes in a wonderful position. Dida Doutté didn't get a good kick on the ball. Daniel Zorita, 15 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. The crowd rose to their feet as Inter de São Paulo's Laércio Loureiro slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Julio Vera. That made the score 2-1 after 18 minutes of play. Luis Andino scored 2-2 in the 21st match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Kléber Salles, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. 25 minutes into the match, Felix Montenegro had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Kléber Salles. Inter de São Paulo's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Felix Montenegro was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-3. With a little luck, Ecuador's Julio Vera got control of the ball when Laércio Loureiro tried to sneak it across the goal line. Kléber Salles made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cristian Sancho in the 37th minute of play. In the 39th minute, Daniel Zorita ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Kléber Salles was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-4. When Laércio Loureiro came up free with the goalie in the 43rd minute, the Inter de São Paulo fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Laércio Loureiro couldn't finish the play. Kléber Salles showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cristian Sancho, who was totally free with the ball in the 46th minute. After the first half Ecuador were leading 2-4. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.
Inter de São Paulo made a substitution. Yan Ceresso replaced César Alagoano. The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Pedro Donatello was the one to do the kick off. Inter de São Paulo's Kléber Salles proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 55th minute of the match, managed to save Inter de São Paulo from getting a goal against them. In the 57th minute of the match Ecuador got a corner. Inter de São Paulo's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Daniel Zorita ran over to the corner to take the kick. After taking down the ball on Ecuador's corner Daniel Zorita fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Kléber Salles quite easily take care of the ball. Kléber Salles showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cristian Sancho in the 60th minute of the match. In the 64th minute, Cristian Sancho hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Laércio Loureiro, who was totally free with the ball in the 65th minute. In the 67th minute of the match, Daniel Zorita got a very nice opportunity to score, but Kléber Salles was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. The audience was convinced that Pedro Donatello's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Julio Vera was relentless in the 69th minute of the game. Kléber Salles took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cristian Sancho, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The corner led Ecuador's Felix Montes to fire away a dangerous shot which Kléber Salles despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Predrag Djordjević kicked well hit freekick during the 81st minute of the match. Inter de São Paulo made a substitution. Gerson Coelho replaced Laércio Loureiro. Predrag Djordjević hit a great freekick 82 minutes into the match. Daniel Zorita sent away a hard shot on goal in the 84th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. If Daniel Zorita had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 86th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. If Gerson Coelho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 90th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. 93 minutes into the game, Gerson Coelho cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 3-4. Julio Vera was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Ecuador's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
