After some fancy dribbling in the 34th minute, Cristian Sancho managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ecuador's supporters rose to their feet, but Cristian Sancho was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Edmond Verdun breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Errecaborda AFC's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Pastor Ado in the 39th minute. Errecaborda AFC's Mauro Rameriz was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Julio Vera in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. 44 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Joe Tate came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Daniel Zorita could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 46th minute of the match, but Edmond Verdun made a huge save. Errecaborda AFC's Edmond Verdun played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Daniel Zorita in the 51st minute of play. Julio Vera took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Mauro Rameriz, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Errecaborda AFC's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Pastor Ado in the 56th minute. The corner ended in Pastor Ado almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Ecuador's Julio Vera did a great save. 60 minutes into the match, Ecuador's Felix Montenegro sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Edmond Verdun narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Aírton Urbano's late challenge caught a Ecuador's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. In the 68th minute the ball was on its way in behind Errecaborda AFC's goalkeeper Edmond Verdun, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 70 minutes into the game, Joe Tate lined in a short shot 1-1 behind a frustrated Julio Vera. When Isidro Gines fell near the penalty area in the 75th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Errecaborda AFC's protests and gave Isidro Gines a yellow card for diving instead.
