In the 26th minute of the match USA got a corner. Sportivo Luan Toro's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Cassius Byrne ran over to the corner to take the kick. It was a well-played corner which Jacob May managed to volley towards the net. Unfortunately, he didn't get a great hit on the ball and it went out into the grandstand. After having played for 33 minutes, Monty Rogers managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. USA's supporters crossed their fingers, but Monty Rogers was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 37 minutes into the game, Raphael Moore threw the ball into play from the sideline. Sportivo Luan Toro's Benjamin Sundin quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. Olli Fiedler could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 45th minute of the match, but Marco Day made a huge save. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Cassius Byrne to make the kick off. 58 minutes had been played when some careless play by Sportivo Luan Toro's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Cassius Byrne was slow to take the kick. During this time USA's players had a chance to rest. Sportivo Luan Toro's Robert Davison played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cassius Byrne in the 63rd minute of play. USA's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
