An unexpectedly hard shot by Felix Montenegro in the 14th minute of play forced Carhue's goalkeeper Angel Xacintu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 15th minute, Brent-Jan Kindermans ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Julio Vera was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-0. 20 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Brent-Jan Kindermans. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cristian Sancho in the 23rd minute of play forced Carhue's goalkeeper Angel Xacintu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Angel Xacintu took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Daniel Zorita, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 26 minutes into the match, Carhue's Brent-Jan Kindermans sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Julio Vera narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 27th minute Carhue were awarded a corner. Petre Zărnescu went to the cornerflag to take it. Carhue's Petre Zărnescu was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Julio Vera in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. 28 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Xu Wei. Brent-Jan Kindermans made a great header on Carhue's corner, it was just that Ecuador's Julio Vera managed to reach the ball for a save. Angel Xacintu didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Felix Montenegro went, in the 31st minute, to the upper right corner, 1-1 was the resulting score. The supporters of Carhue booed when Ecuador was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 35 match minutes in a wonderful position. Camilo Gisbert didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 40th minute Felix Montenegro shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Angel Xacintu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some careless play in the Carhue defense, Daniel Zorita kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Angel Xacintu. The Carhue fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Angel Xacintu should have stopped the shot. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Brent-Jan Kindermans to make the kick off. Julio Vera showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Brent-Jan Kindermans in the 51st minute of the match. The supporters of Ecuador booed when Carhue was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 53 match minutes in a wonderful position. Charles De Ketelaere didn't get a good kick on the ball. Carhue made a substitution. Justo Egoitz replaced Petre Zărnescu. Luis Andino made in the 60th minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by Carhue's Charles De Ketelaere. Justo Egoitz kicked well hit freekick during the 62nd minute of the match. In the 63rd match minute, Ecuador was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Camilo Gisbert to maneuver through the defense. A collision led to Ecuador getting a freekick after 64 minutes play. Camilo Gisbert hit a great ball. Julio Vera didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Brent-Jan Kindermans went, in the 65th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-2 was the resulting score. Brent-Jan Kindermans blasted a shot towards the goal in the 67th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Julio Vera having to make a save. Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Brent-Jan Kindermans, who was totally free with the ball in the 69th minute. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Brent-Jan Kindermans in the 73rd minute of play. Cristian Sancho's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Angel Xacintu read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 74th minute of play. Ecuador's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Daniel Zorita in the 75th minute. The corner led Ecuador's Juan Sebastián Puig to fire away a dangerous shot which Angel Xacintu despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. In a very dangerous position, a player in Carhue fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 77th minute. Penalty! With a couple of smart ball manuevers Brent-Jan Kindermans in the 81st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Julio Vera saved Ecuador from getting behind. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Mario Chago in the 83rd minute of play. In the 84th minute Carhue were awarded a corner. Leon Kaxen went to the cornerflag to take it. Julio Vera stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Xu Wei's shot from short distance in the 88th minute. Luis Andino received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 91st minute. Angel Xacintu tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Agustín Saelices sent away a hard shot on goal in the 93rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.
