In the 21st minute the ball was on its way in behind Uruguay's goalkeeper Joaquin Gayoso, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Joaquin Gayoso came out of the goal in the 31st minute to try and stop a shot by Olimpia HSB's Fabian Czeszejko. But to his dismay, Fabian Czeszejko quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-4. After having played for 34 minutes, Fabian Czeszejko managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Olimpia HSB's supporters crossed their fingers, but Fabian Czeszejko was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Joaquin Gayoso showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Fabian Czeszejko, who was totally free with the ball in the 39th minute. The coaching staff of Olimpia HSB protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Ezequiel Abecia had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. In a very dangerous position, a player in Olimpia HSB fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 59th minute. Penalty! Tolek Kiszkiel had in the 62ndth minute some difficulties stopping Jaime Cazalla's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. After taking down the ball on Olimpia HSB's corner Tomáš Petrásek fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Joaquin Gayoso quite easily take care of the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Jacek Pietrowiak got free with Joaquin Gayoso in the 81st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Joaquin Gayoso was out of position in the 83 minute of play, and Jacek Pietrowiak capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Jacek Pietrowiak really showed his touch with that goal: 0-7. With an all-out effort, Olimpia HSB's Joaquin Gayoso threw himself towards the right post 86 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Calito Izquierdoz, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. After 87 minutes Uruguay's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Fernando Morientes who took care of the corner kick. The Uruguay supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Olimpia HSB's performance. The match ended with a win for Olimpia HSB.
