When Rafael Nadal came up free with the goalie in the 14th minute, the Algarrobo fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Rafael Nadal couldn't finish the play. Everardo Ado made a fantastic save in the 16th minute, when Lautaro Mancebo sent off a good shot on target. 27 minutes into the match, Algarrobo's goal looked a bit too open when Joel Gaona came free, but Everardo Ado reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The corner ended in Joel Gaona almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Algarrobo's Everardo Ado did a great save. Dante Lacasa took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Diego Armando Lamb, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. With a little luck, Algarrobo's Everardo Ado got control of the ball when Lautaro Mancebo tried to sneak it across the goal line. A collision led to Algarrobo getting a freekick after 39 minutes play. Diego Armando Lamb hit a great ball. If Lautaro Mancebo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 41st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Edmundo Cañas in the 46th minute of play forced Mexico's goalkeeper Dante Lacasa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Algarrobo were awarded a corner in the 48th minute after Mexico's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Dani Alves took the corner. Dani Alves made a great header on Algarrobo's corner, it was just that Mexico's Dante Lacasa managed to reach the ball for a save.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Joel Gaona to make the kick off. When the match had gone on for 53 minutes, Diego Armando Lamb took a quick shot and it went in 0-1 without a chance for Dante Lacasa to make any attempt to save it. Everardo Ado made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Joel Gaona in the 56th minute of play.
