Despite this Manos Manteca quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. A collision led to funebreros getting a freekick after 41 minutes play. Ben Vaarst hit a great ball. In the 48th minute funebreros were awarded a corner. Ben Vaarst went to the cornerflag to take it. The corner led funebreros's Ben Vaarst to fire away a dangerous shot which Julio Vera despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

Cristian Sancho scored 0-1 in the 52nd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Manos Manteca, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 56th minute, Agustín Saelices got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. funebreros's Gerrit Kaptein was substituted for Adan Polentzi. The audience thought a goal was coming when Daniel Zorita got free with Manos Manteca in the 59th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Thanks to some nice moves Cristian Sancho could shoot a difficult shot in the 60th minute, which Manos Manteca however easily saved by the left post. In the 61st minute of the match Ecuador got a corner. funebreros's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Daniel Zorita ran over to the corner to take the kick. If Daniel Zorita had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 63rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gerrit Kaptein in the 64th minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 65 played minutes funebreros got a freekick which was hit by Ignacio Meckel. Ecuador's Luis Andino got a good chance for a goal in the 88th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Manos Manteca made a fantastic save in the 90th minute, when Daniel Zorita sent off a good shot on target. Randy Gultom received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 92nd minute. Julio Vera tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 95th minute, Randy Gultom got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Ecuador's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
